A walking school bus is a group of kids who “commute” to school together in a large walking group with one or more adults to accompany them.
It is usually the job of one adult to be the “driver” and another to be the “conductor” or “caboose” to follow the kids.

Walking school buses provide an alternative to driving to school and riding the bus, allow for bonding time with your kids, and encourage enthusiasm for exercising.
I don’t remember if these existed when I was in elementary school, but I’m pretty sure I would have loved it if it did.
